Globetto for iPhone
Your data and choices.
How the iPhone app saves your progress, uses optional services and gives you control.
Last updated: 21 October 2026. Published by Jaap Scholten.
This policy covers the native iPhone app. For quizzes played on this website, read the browser privacy policy. The two versions save answers differently.
Some services below operate only when enabled in the app. Describing ads or purchases here does not mean they are available in every build, region or session.
Learning data on your device
You can play without a Globetto account. The app saves quiz progress, scores, history, study sets, badges, preferences and recent practice activity on your device. Typed answers and speech answers you submit are saved with your round.
These records let you resume a quiz, review mistakes and choose practice questions. A limited recent activity history supports those features. Globetto does not upload that learning history to an analytics service. There is no Globetto cloud account or automatic progress sync.
Map data, flags, fonts and Atlas artwork are included with the app. Globetto does not need your device's precise location to show the globe.
Ads and privacy choices
When ads are enabled, Globetto uses Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform for required privacy choices. Ads may appear when you leave an eligible completed quiz. They do not interrupt questions, practice sessions or the Atlas. Confirmed Remove ads ownership prevents ad loading and display.
Google may process your IP address and approximate location, device identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, and diagnostic and performance information. These can be used to deliver and measure ads, prevent abuse and improve services. See Google's iOS advertising data disclosure and the Google Privacy Policy.
Globetto requests non-personalized ads. This does not mean ads use no identifiers or process no information. Your privacy choices, device settings and the applicable requirements affect which requests can be made.
Where required, you can make privacy choices before ads are requested. Revisit them through Ad privacy options when that control is available in the app. Consent information may still be refreshed after you remove ads so required privacy choices remain accessible. This does not enable ads for an ad-free owner.
Google retains information processed by its services according to its own privacy practices. Deleting local quiz history does not delete those provider records.
App Store purchases
When offered, Remove ads is a one-time App Store purchase, not a subscription. Apple processes payment. Globetto does not receive your payment card details.
The app checks Apple-verified purchase information, including the product, transaction, purchase date and any revocation, to manage ad-free access. Purchase checks and Restore purchases can contact Apple even when new purchases are unavailable. The iPhone app does not send purchase receipts to a Globetto server.
Restore purchases uses the App Store account that made the purchase. Deleting the app or its local data does not remove that account's purchase. Apple handles refund requests; a refund or revocation can remove ad-free access after the app checks it.
Optional spoken answers
Speak answer asks for microphone and speech-recognition permission when you choose to use it. Globetto requests recognition on your device where Apple supports it. Otherwise, Apple may process the audio using its speech service over the internet.
The app does not save an audio recording. Recognized text goes into the answer field for you to check. It is saved with your quiz when you submit the answer. You can type instead and change these permissions in iPhone Settings.
Apple's services are covered by its own privacy information and the permissions shown on your device. Read the Apple Privacy Policy.
Optional reminders
Practice reminders are local notifications. Their days and times are saved on your device; Globetto does not upload the schedule to a push-notification server. You can switch reminders off in the app or change notification permission in iPhone Settings.
Sharing and external links
Sharing opens the iPhone share sheet so you choose the recipient or service. A result can include your score and quiz details. Challenge codes can contain questions and a completed score, but do not include your typed answers. Copies you share are controlled by the recipient or service.
Hosted challenge uploads are not enabled in this version. Photo-credit, support and other external links open when you choose them. The destination can receive normal connection information, such as your IP address, and its own privacy terms apply.
This support website is hosted by Railway and delivered through Cloudflare. When you open it from the app, these providers process connection and request information to deliver and protect the pages. That is separate from the learning records kept on your phone. See the browser privacy policy for website details, Railway's privacy policy and Cloudflare's privacy policy for their own practices.
Retention, backups and deletion
Saved learning records remain on your device until the app's data is deleted. Limited recent activity records can be replaced as new activity is saved. Deleting Globetto removes its local app data. Offloading the app can preserve it.
Device backups may include learning records and can restore them later. Manage backups separately in your device or iCloud settings. There is no Globetto server account to delete for the current iPhone app.
Deleting local data does not delete a purchase held by Apple, information held by Google, email sent to support or copies shared with others. Use the relevant provider's controls, or contact us about information you have sent to support.
Information you send to support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. We use them to respond, investigate issues and handle relevant follow-up or privacy requests. Delivery involves the email services you and the publisher use. Please do not include passwords, payment details or sensitive information that is not needed to explain the issue.
Support correspondence is kept while reasonably needed to resolve the request, handle relevant follow-up and meet applicable legal obligations. The length of time depends on the request and those obligations. You can ask for deletion; we will explain if particular information must be retained and why.
Contact and your privacy rights
Globetto is published by Jaap Scholten. For support or a privacy request, email [email protected].
Depending on where you live and the information involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, restrict or object to its use, or withdraw consent. Tell us what you would like to do. We may ask for information needed to verify and address the request; do not send identity documents unless requested through an appropriate process.
We cannot retrieve local quiz data from your phone. We will explain if a request needs to be made to Apple, Google or another service instead. Where applicable, you may raise a concern with your local data-protection authority.
We will update this policy when the app's data practices change. The date at the top identifies this version.
