Globetto for Android

Your data and choices.

How the Android app saves your progress and handles optional services, ads and purchases.

Last updated: 23 October 2026. Published by Jaap Scholten.

This policy covers the native Android app. Read the separate policies for iPhone and browser quizzes. Ads and purchases operate only when enabled in your app version and available in your region.

Learning data on your device

You can play without a Globetto account. Quiz progress, submitted answers, scores, history, study sets, badges, preferences and recent practice activity are stored on your device. They let you resume rounds, review mistakes and choose practice questions. Globetto does not upload that learning history to an analytics service and does not provide automatic progress sync.

Maps, flags, fonts and Atlas artwork are included with the app. The globe does not need your precise location.

Ads and privacy choices

When enabled, ads use Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform. An ad may appear when you leave an eligible completed quiz. Ads do not interrupt questions, practice sessions or the Atlas. Confirmed Remove ads ownership prevents ad loading and display.

Google may process your IP address and approximate location, device identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, and diagnostic and performance information to deliver and measure ads, prevent abuse and improve services. See Google's Android advertising data disclosure and the Google Privacy Policy.

Globetto requests non-personalized ads. These can still use identifiers and process information. Your privacy choices, device settings and applicable requirements determine which requests can be made. Where required, privacy choices are offered before ads are requested. Revisit them through Ad privacy choices in Settings when that control is available. Required choices remain accessible after you remove ads.

Google retains provider records according to its own practices. Clearing local quiz history does not delete those records.

Google Play purchases and verification

When offered, Remove ads is a one-time permanent Google Play purchase, not a subscription. Google processes payment; Globetto does not receive your payment-card details. Restore purchases uses the Google Play account that made the purchase. Apple purchases do not transfer to Google Play.

To verify an Android purchase, the app sends its product ID and Google Play purchase token over HTTPS to Globetto's purchase-verification service. The service checks purchase status with Google, acknowledges eligible purchases and returns signed access information. Google purchase-status notifications and periodic checks help restore access and recognize refunds or revocations. Unresolved ownership suppresses ads while the app checks it.

The service stores an encrypted purchase token, a token hash, product ID, purchase status, verification dates and a version of the verification record. These records are kept to maintain permanent ad-free access and handle refunds, restoration and abuse prevention. Processed notification identifiers are retained for seven days to avoid processing duplicates. Purchase tokens are not written to application request logs. Hosting and network providers can process connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service.

Removing local app data does not remove a purchase held by Google or the verification record needed to maintain it. A refund or revocation can remove ad-free access. Google handles refund requests. Contact us about purchase-record privacy requests; we will explain any records needed to maintain access or meet legal obligations.

Optional spoken answers and reminders

Speak answer opens your device's speech-recognition service when you choose it. That service may process audio over the internet under its own privacy terms and permissions. Globetto does not save an audio recording. Recognized text enters the answer field and is saved with your round if you submit it. You can type instead.

Practice reminders use local notifications. Their days and times stay on your device, not a Globetto push-notification server. You can disable reminders in the app and change notification or speech permissions in Android Settings.

Sharing and external links

Sharing opens Android's share sheet so you choose the recipient or service. Shared results can contain your score and quiz details. Challenge codes contain questions and can contain a completed score, but not your typed answers. The recipient or service controls copies you share. Hosted challenge uploads are not enabled in this version.

Support, photo credits and other external links open when you choose them. Their destinations receive normal connection information and their own privacy terms apply. This support site uses Railway hosting and Cloudflare for delivery and protection. Read the browser privacy policy, Railway privacy policy and Cloudflare privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

Learning records stay on your device until you reset progress, clear app data or uninstall Globetto. Limited recent activity records are replaced as new activity is saved. The app disables Android cloud backup; device manufacturers and transfer tools may have separate settings. Manage any device backups separately.

Clearing local data does not delete provider records, purchase-verification records, support messages or shared copies. There is no Globetto cloud learning account to delete.

Support and your rights

Globetto is published by Jaap Scholten. Email [email protected] for support or privacy requests. We receive your email address, message and attachments when you contact us, and use them to respond and investigate. Correspondence is kept while reasonably needed for your request, follow-up and applicable legal obligations. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary sensitive information.

Depending on your location and the information involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive your personal information, restrict or object to its use, or withdraw consent. We cannot retrieve local learning records from your phone. We will explain if a request belongs with Google or another provider. Where applicable, you can contact your local data-protection authority. This policy will be updated when the app's practices change.
